Footage in Black Room

In this session the whole group started on working in the black room. The black room was decided on our new torture room location because it was a dark place and quite eary, it would work well with what we were hoping for. The reason why we decided to change location rooms was because the green room was so much trouble and we had difficulty's with the skull wall. We made look like he was beaten up by putting fake blood on his face. Jake also brought in a machete and a bag to go over toms face for the torture scene in this scene Brad plays the torturer.

Phone Call Scene

In this session Brad and Tom had a phone call session in the project Brad is talking to Tom asking him if he will come for dinner. The whole point of this scene is to make the actual movie all fit into pieces so that  people understand it. The camera man for this scene was Jake Howell who added the Close ups whilst Brad Cut it and trimmed it in Final Cut to give it effect.

Production - 5

In this session i was absent but the group continued filming in the corridor.
But we moved to a different but very similar location.
In that location we re-filmed the whole sequence of the Hall but added different shots, made it less static and  motionless so when people watched it, it would not get boring.
For this recording we used the Camera Wheelchair, HD Camera and the Wide Angled lense.

Leaving Work Scene

In this session the group went out filming for the Leaving Work scene, in this scene the farther was going to be filmed getting ready too leave work.
walking down a silent corridor on his own this was to establish the film itself.
We had Tom Carter as the farther and Jake as Cameraman whilst Brad Bon field and myself directed.
This was helpful also to Brad because he is the editor and if he knew how it was filmed it would make it a lot easier to edit.

Script Editing

In our last session the group noticed a couple of faults in using the green room.
Part of the wall in the green room was glass so it wasn't green so, the filming angle's were limited and we didn't like that.
Also it would take a lot of editing to make the wall of skulls.
So we had to cross and redraw some of the scene's on the key shots sheet.
We also noticed if we weren't going to use the green room we had to find a new location for the torture scene and add new parts to the script.

Green Room Testing

For our session in the green room test footage we had to record some footage of us in the Green room. For this we used a tripod and HD Camera with the Wide Angle Camera lense.
The reason we decided to make a green room test footage was to Try out different techniques for instance we did one of me leaning on top of a table pretending to fly.
What we are hoping to do is learn how to work with the green screen and be able to make a wall off skulls in the torture room.
What we are hoping to do with the wall of skulls is to use it as a shock sequence to make the audience feel tense and think "What is going on?"

Props Sheet

In this session me and the group decided that we had to figure out what props we need to use. we decided we needed a Machete, toy gun, office chair, cigerattes and a black sack to cover up the victim's face with. This had to be done so that like in the costume sheet we would know what we needed and be prepared for filming so it would make sense and not miss anything. Anything new will be added to the sheet.

The Test footage

In our test footage we were instructed to go out and try out our camera's which were in high quality, we did this by filming random things, action shots so we would get used to using a new camera. We also used a dolly and a Camera chair a dolly is used to make a camera move so we can do tracking shots and so is the Camera except the camera man sits in the chair and another person pushes the chair therefore creating a tracking shot.

Costume Sheet

On our Film we needed various costumes to make it look professional and believable towards the audience to come up with idea's of costume we googled some kidnap movies and we taught that easiest would be is to make the kidnapper just wear a simple hoodie and jeans, whilst the victim wears a suit and looks like a father/business man that gets kidnapped.

Location sheet

During this Session our group, Tom Brad Jake and myself went out around the college to find places to take pictures in for our location sheet the places where we went where at the back of the college the woods, the Green Screen Room, Cleaners storage room and Behind the Stage. After we found places to film and took loads of picture's of the area's we then uploaded them to our macs and went to Flickr and continued to also upload them for back up and proof that we did do our work. This session was very useful because without this we wouldn't of found places to film our Trapped film.

Open title Planinng

In this Session the group started working on a planning for our open title sequence at the start of our film, personally I quite like our title planning because it suits with the whole idea of our film. We try'd out a lot of different titles seeing what our options were and we googled images for ideas and to try and make something unique and that nobody else had done. The planning was originally made paper with pencil and color pens but will be finished in and edited in Photo Shop. This session was a lot of fun because i got to see what the groups ideas are in picture's instead of words, also i found it enjoyable because it had a good out come.

Trapped Short Film Storyboard

In our lesson we were instructed to split our 4 man group into two's the Editor and Production designer had to work together to come up with and make a Title and Credit's for the short film. Whilst in the mean time the Director and Fi;lm operator worked with the Story board to draw out the scene's and create idea's for the shots and how we were going to film them

Trapped Target Audience

For this part of the unit we where instructed to go and create a spider diagram, open photo shop (National Paper A4)  open Safari or Internet explorer too find picture to do with our trapped piece and what our target audience was by adding the picture's off our target audience on to photo shop. I put picture's of food, TV and other brand's to do with our audience, our audience was aimed at teenagers.

Find Your Tribe.

When I found out my tribe i was very disappointed because I was rated a mosher, so I re did it. and read it trough carefully and after completing it again i was told to be a Scene Kid and after it saying stuff that I slowly began to agree with what it was saying.
And It was playing music i agree with and i do like having extra hair spray in my bag.
the reason we found out what our "tribe" was is because we wanted to find out what our target audience was. The target audience is the people wo watch, read buy, listen to, or use a media product.
Looking at the 'target audience' for a media product means looking at those people that its markers think will watch/buy/use it.

Trapped Mood Board

For this lesson we were told to make a mood for for preparation of our Trapped film. As our story is about kidnapping my mood board was picture's of kidnappers abandoned houses and tortured people. After I had put pictures on the Photoshop piece i used the Magnetic Lasso tool to trim away their background and added effect to them by making them color dodge or light dodge.

Trapped

Yesterday we were told about our new project, Trapped.
This was going to be based of the advert called Hooked for people who are hooked on smoking the idea of it was to come up with our very own idea of a film but it had to have somthing to do with our stimulus which was Trapped.
We were told to each write down on a sheet of paper our own idea's and then combine them or even pick between us the one we liked most. The flim could be any genre we wanted, Horror, Thriller or even a comedy.
My idea was of a child/teenager who was trapped in his room by his voilent farther who would come and take his anger out on his son or daughter.
Tom's idea was that a person was walking down a dark alley and then being kidnapped by a random stranger.
Brad's idea was guy is walking around and sees his dad and goes up to him and notices that his dad is a zombie to. He tries to run away but is cornered and is eaten.

When we all had finished our ideas we listened to each of eachother's ideas and discussed wether or not we liked them and if we wanted to take them further and base our film around the idea.
We then decided to kind of take Tom's idea but turn it into somthing like Saw.
Where the person is kidnapped and taken into a room and tortured relentlessly.
After awhile the person escapes and then when he escapes he finds out a shocking twist.

The Bomb

In our past lesson and this one we created a video sequence about a phone call of people planning to meet up.
Then plant a bomb it's called "The Bomb" the sequences involve a Phone Call, The meeting and then the Bomb after we finished all of our shots we then uploaded the video to our mac's.
And then edited it by deleting some of the time lines and clapper boards and trimming it down to size and making it all make sense in my group there was me Brad Bonfield Tom Carter and Jake Howell.

Rosie Ball.

Yesterday in my Media class we met a person called Rosie Ball she's and ex student from Long road and she was telling us about her qualifications and how she's doing in life.
She also told us that she entered a game contest  which you have to make make your own game within 10 weeks.
You get given the equipment that you want including any computer you ask for with any program and then they select the certain best 15 out of hundreds of teams.
She got chosen and out of those 15 they choose another 3 and they get given a award.
Her game was for the ipad and was called Tick Tock Toy Box. The aim of the game is to move the toys out of the way so the robot can reach the goal. more info below.

Horror Stills Conventions Moodboard

For our horror stills conventions we had to make a mood board about horror.
Mood board is a lot of different pictures stuck on top of each other to make people think kind of like a brain storm.
With a lot of different pictures in different shapes, colours and sizes.
For my mood board I focused on a lot of the classic horror films such as Freddy Kruger, Chucky, Hell raiser, Predators, Dracula and Jason.
I also added random pictures of empty graveyards, aliens, ghosts and a full moon too.

Final New York Tittle Sequence

For our New York title squence we had to add titles to our final cut piece.
And make them fade in and out.
This was quite hard to do because i had to ask people around me for help.
But after a hour long of hard work i finally got there as you can see by the video above show.
i created the fade out effect by using the pen tool and clicking on each of the image's four times.
After i had clicked it four times i put the fade in and out in diffrent areas and created my effect.

New York Garage Band Session

For the New York Garage band session we had to create a song that fit in with our Final Cut production. This was done by using Garage band and creating a new song and moving video inside Garage band so we could make the music fit in time with the video. This was done by opening final cut and then drag and dropping the final cut file into the Garage Band. Once it was in with Garage band every time you clicked play the movie would play with it.
So you could time the music and video together perfectly you could move the times of the music in Garage band.
By just drag and dropping so it made this method very simple.

New York Final Cut Editing Session.

Our task was to Edit multiple videos and to blend them together to create our own and very unique video. There are three ways to edit I used the following. once you create the video you need to choose your "In" and "Out" points in your video.
You have to drag the play head to locate the beginning of the part you want to use.
Then click the mark in button or the simply press "I" (I for "In")
Drag the play head to locate the end of the video and click either mark out or press "O" (O for "Out")
Then all you need to do is drag and drop the clip directly from the viewer to the timeline.
you can drag the clip to the lower third of the video track to perform an 'Overwrite Edit'
The Cursor will change to and arrow pointing downwards.
You can also use the selection tool for editing by trimming and extending from the tool palette.

Garageband Demo Session

For my Garageband Demo Session our task was to simply explore garageband and learn how to create our very own song.
Using various samples of electric guitars, drum beats, bass lines and much more.
The reason why we had to learn about Garageband was because we were going to use it in future lessons.
I quite enojyed garageband because i've always wanted to try and create my very own song.
When you first open Garageband you have to choose a instrument i choose the Electric guitar.
In the bottom  right corner you click the button that looks a lot like a Eye.
This allows us to choose samples and drag and drop them into the time line to create our very own song.

Logo Ident production session

I found the most difficult thing in photo shop was finding certain button's or finding button's to crop certain images to the size i desired the most.
I resolved this issue by asking Steve or the person sitting next to me who was often very kind enough to help me out.
Altough I haven't started my Final Cut yet there are alot of question i still have.
Like how will i add/find the sound effects and how do i make the camera zoom into certain part's.
For instance when I want to make my Jack's production's even bigger after the man fly's over it.
What I'm most pleased with, with my Logo Indent is that its nice and simple.
And it should able to make people smile because its quite whitty. And the fact that I enjoyed getting it togeather. And actually making my own logo and a small animation to go with it.

Media Production Company Logo Planning Session

For this session our task was to first sketch out our initial ideas on a piece of A4 paper given to us I began this brain storming alot of diffrent company logo's.
such as, Monster, Marvel, Mac, Windows, etc. After awhile i started to sketch out diffrent pictures such as computer's, lightning bolts after we came up with a logo we had to think of a way we could animate.
It like a Intro type style the way we had to make this is by saving layers one by one into photo shop.
First you would have to un- click the eye's near the layer.
And then instead of using the normale save as option we have to use the Save for Web and Devices option.
We had to do it for each layer so we could use it for the final cut program which is what we will be using to animate our logo's.
My original plan was for my figure to be a disabled sign but I taught it would be to offence towards disabled people.
So I kept it as a normale figure.
The logo will have the shopping trolly run into the figure and the figure will fly over the top of "Jack's Production's"

Logo Session

For the logo Session we were told to find two logo's we find particulary intresting and draw them out in side a sheet.
And write a brief desription of the company info, when they were made, who owns the company and where is it from. After we drew out the two logo's we were told to annotate them and talk about the shape, fonts, colours and size which were used.
We were also asked to write down what associations the design elements might suggest. My first logo was Monster. Monster is a energy drink made in america but is also sold in the UK it is marketed and distriputed by Hansen Natural it's not widly advertised by the media but is well known around various sports.
The design elements show's a monster's scratch or a scratch from a large beast. And this can be taught as when people are afraid they get a adrenaline rush causing them to run faster and longer and think fast too. So in a way it would make quite alot of sense for a Energy drink to be named monster.

My second logo I chose was the famous Marvel Comics logo. Marvel comics is also a american company but it publishes comicbooks and other related media.
Marvel comics are sold all round the world including the UK the company was first started in 1939 as Timely productions and by the early 50's it became generally known as Atlas commics.
The marvel logo is a Red rectangle with Marvel written trough it the red is the back ground and the white writing is the forground.

Photo Shop Skills Session 1: Club Flyer Task

For the Club flyer task we were told to make our own Club flyer that would attract people to come to our club we had to design the background by combining  two different pictures like we did in the Earth and Eye task.
We also had to make the type international paper and size A5 we found our pictures on Flickr.com for my background i used a picture of a empty stage.
then I cut the some of the picture out of the bottom with the Marque tool, scaled it to the A5 size picture once I was happy with the scaling i went and looked for another picture that would suit the theme of my club flyer.
After I found the picture I like I had to extract what i wanted.
Like in the Eye and Earth session. I used the Magnetic Marque tool for this this selected the colour around the object I wanted highlight/move. Automatically making it easier than doing it just free hand.
Then like in the Earth and Eye session i moved the picture and scaled it by going into the main menu>edit > transform> scale.
Once i scaled my object to the desired size I then added some text to it E.g my Club's name and prices also small deals to make people come to it early.
I added text by using the Type Tool this tool allows you to add texts onto your picture providing messages or in my case times and prices and even the club name it's self.
Once i was happy with what i wrote i could even start to edit the text by changing colour and even styles.

Photoshop Skills Ession:1 Earth and Eye Exercise

For the Earth and Eye exercise we where told to creative a photo shopped picture of a Eye edited with the earth making it seem like the person had the whole world in their eye.
We did this by first going on to Flickr and getting the picture of the Eye and Earth once we found them we clicked on them and clicked "view in all sizes and chose the size we desired. then we would click the download button.
After both images where downloaded we opened up photo shop and opened the Eye and Earth images (Main Menu > File and then open) after it was opened we had to copy the earth picture into the eye.
To do this we selected the "Rectangle Marquee tool" from the tool box we then clicked and dragged to define the area around the eye.
Then we coped the image by either pressing (CTRL + C) or you go to Main menu, Edit and Copy and then we clicked the eye image to make that layer active, then we pasted the earth image onto the eye.
after that we clicked the move tool and moved it into view and selected the Oval Marquee tool and dragged the dotted marquee around the image of the earth. Then go to the (main menu > select and then click inverse this will select everything except the earth then click delete to delete it.
Then we used to magic tool to clean the image up a bit then we had to scale the earth into the eye we did this by going to the main menu and going to "edit" followed by Transform and then scale this formed a small rectangle around the eye then you grab the edge of the box hold shift and scale it into the eye.
once we where satisfied with the scaling we pressed return and apply to the transformation.
We then had to blend the earth with the eye the way we did this was by going to blending modes in the layers palette and clicking overlay this blended the earth to the image into the eyes.
